Given that several rope break incidents, none of which were attributable to my rope thankfully, have come to my attention over the past year or so, I am encouraging the use of more robust main lines. The trend to use 5mm lines is a risky. With heavier western models and more dynamic suspensions, it is all to easy to exceed their capacity. Most 5mm jute can break at around 100kg/220lbs. A fast lift can more than double the load on a line! As you can see, this leaves little margin for an average rope bunny, especially if you 'burn the bight'.
I suggest at least a larger diameter main line or, better.still, Hempex or Xtra reinforced jute.
